Funding and resource support

Date: 2022-09-04 08:57:03Source: GreyBay Institute [Font: LargeMediumSmall] Background:

GreyBay Institute is an independent, non-profit public-interest research organisation. We remain academically neutral and are committed to turning rigorous scientific evidence into actionable policy advice and public goods. Our work depends on the generous support of government, foundations, businesses, and the wider community. We welcome support in any form; every contribution is strictly used for public-interest research and is subject to transparent, accountable oversight.

1. Financial donations

Financial donations are the most direct and flexible form of support. Whether one-off or multi-year; whether for general operations or for a specific research area or project, we welcome your contribution. Donations are used strictly in line with donors’ wishes, and we provide regular project updates and financial summaries. We are qualified to issue tax-deductible charitable donation receipts for donors in mainland China.

2. In-kind donations

We welcome in-kind donations relevant to our research and operations, including but not limited to: high-performance computing servers, data storage, environmental sensors, wearable health-monitoring devices, licensed software (GIS, statistics, data visualisation, etc.), and access to academic books and journal databases.

3. Unrestricted institutional funding

We welcome unrestricted funding from companies and foundations to support our brand-building and public outreach. Funds may be used for: annual flagship conferences, young scholar awards, student internship stipends, policy briefs and popular science publications, and the development and maintenance of public-interest tools and open-source platforms. Funders may receive branding and co-promotion benefits.

4. Naming and endowed support

For donors with long-term commitment and support at a certain scale, we offer naming opportunities, including endowed chairs, research funds, labs, conference rooms, and annual reports. Terms and presentation can be agreed by mutual discussion.

5. Legacy and charitable trusts

We respect and value donors who include the Institute in their will, estate plan, or charitable trust. Such support provides lasting foundations for our work; we are happy to work closely with donors and their legal advisers to ensure their intentions are fulfilled.

6. Resource exchange

We welcome resource-exchange arrangements: cloud providers offering compute resources in return for demonstration of our models; data holders providing de-identified datasets in return for analytical insights and joint research. Specific arrangements can be discussed case by case.

……

Science needs time to mature, and support makes that possible. Every contribution, whatever its size or form, is a vote of trust for healthier cities and a fairer future. We value that trust and promise to use the highest standards of academic rigour, financial transparency, and public-interest responsibility to turn your support into research and public goods that truly benefit population health.
